Why we developed our own spam protection
Because existing solutions did not meet our requirements
We tested everything WordPress has to offer in terms of spam protection: free plugins, premium solutions, and even secret tips from forums. But in our complex environment with Elementor Pro, Crocoblock, WooCommerce, and custom plugins, many systems failed – or blocked legitimate customer inquiries.
Google reCAPTCHA was the only solution that was technically reliable. However, at a high price: transfer of user data to the USA, questionable GDPR compliance, hidden behavioral analyses, and additional bandwidth consumption. For us as a European company, this was not an option.
So we did what developers do when there’s no suitable solution: We developed our own spam protection.
